Step Up to Bullying

Stepup/Standup to Bullying

Welcome to Step Up

Our leadership program for 4th graders teaches kids what it means to Step Up safely to bullying situations and Stand Up for others.

Through generous funding from Rotary’s District 6040, we are expanding this program across our northwest Missouri communities.

Bullying in school is neither 'cool' nor just 'a reality of growing up'. We can change it.

Since 2015, our antibullying programs help kids learn skills to respond to bullying in a safe and constructive way. We’re educating young people with tools and ideas so they can build confidence to change the culture in their schools and their communities.

Bullying

Kids learn that bullying and teasing and rumors and bad behavior are not created equal. Bullying is a specific behavior that kids can recognize and then decide how to safely and constructively step up, get help, or intervene in the situaion.

Our Schools

Principals and counselors who are looking to give young people the skills to resolve conflict at school, in the community, and beyond are the perfect people to introduce the program to. This is not full classroom work but rather taught in a small group environment.

Our Kids

We focus on 4th grades students, selected by staff who identify children with a variety of leadership skills. A semester-long curriculum that meets during the lunch hour, is packed with new ideas and strategies designed to empower students to thoughtfully respond to bullying situations. At the end of the session the students share what they learn at a graduation celebration with their parents.

Our Step Up/Stand Up Teachers

We are not teachers, but rather we are caring community communicators who follow a proven curriculum to help students learn these important concepts. We use a program that addresses many areas of bullying behavior in a way that 4th graders can understand and relate to.
